Now that the Club was back in D Section, what lay ahead?

Craig Robison and Tony Witts were both selected in the VAFA State CDEF team.

Chris Brent topped the D Section goalkicking with 104 goals The first (and only?) Old Trinity player to kick 100 - until he repeated the feat the following year!

Maybe we were on a roll!  After 9 games the Firsts were in 2nd position with 7 wins and 2 losses, and the Reserves were 3rd also on 7 – 2. At the end of the season the First had slipped to third with 14 wins and 4 losses. The Reserves also finished  3rd with 12-5-1. The Firsts, had been on top of the ladder after Round 12, but lost a crucial game against Power House and had to be content with 3rd place after the home and away games.

The Firsts were ousted in the first semi-final against Melbourne High School Old Boys. We were in front at half time but trailed by five goals into the last quarter. A courageous fight back in the last 20 minutes was thwarted when MHSOB goaled in the last minute of play to win by 4 points - a sad finish for a determined team.
Firsts first semi-final:

Goals:   Brent 5, O’Shaughnessy 3, Hooper, Witts, Wallace, O’Conner

The Reserves made sure they didn’t emulate the Firsts. They lead MHSOB all day in the first semi-final.
Reserves first semi-final:

Goals:   Collins 3, Kennedy 2, Davey, Glass, R Heath, G Heath

They then comfortably took care of Thomastown in the preliminary final:

But Therry CCOB were too good on grand final day.
