Representative teams:
• Brendan Iezzi & Harry Tinney were selected in the VAFA team for the AFL Victoria Metro Championships. Both were in the best players with Harry Tinney BOG.
• Ned Hunt, Jake Steinhart, Gabe Hamilton and Harry Tinney were selected in VAFA team to play against AFL Victoria Country.
• Andrew Kyriacopoulos, Gabe Hamilton and Ben Howell were selected in the state U23 team.
• Thomas Young and Alex Polidoros were selected in the U19 state team.
• Gabe Hamilton was named in AAFC U23 All Australian team.
• And, to cap off a memorable representative year, Jack Hunt was selected in the VAFA team to tour England and Ireland.
After his “retirement” in 2013, Rambo strapped on his boots again for another 9 games in 2015. But this time he hung the boots up for good, after amassing an incredible 357 games, and countless career achievements. His decorated career is set out in this article from the 2014 Amateur Footballer “RAMBO CALLS IT A DAY”.
Could Old Trinity make the finals in Premier? At the half-way mark it looked like we could, sitting on top of the ladder with an 8-1 record. The Reserves were 7th on 3-6, and the Thirds 4th with 5-4. The U19s were struggling in 10th position on 1-8.
The First kept up the pressure, and at season’s end were 2nd with 14 wins and 4 losses. The Club’s highest ever finish in Premier Section. The Reserves finished 5th (9-9) and the Thirds also 5th (7-7) - missing the finals by less than 1%. The U19s had a forgettable year, finishing 10th with 2-16.
And what a tough initiation it was to playing finals at the highest level. In a tight, low scoring game Trinity trailed nemesis St Bernards by 32 points at three-quarter time. But we stormed home, kicking six goals to two in the final quarter to win by seven points, and earn direct entry to the Club’s first ever Premier Section grand final.

St Bernards won the preliminary final, so it was a re-match in the grand final. We led by a goal at three-quarter time. We had more shots on goal than St B’s in the last quarter but couldn’t find the big sticks. We kicked 2-6 in the quarter to St Bernard’s 5-2 meaning we were pipped by a heartbreaking 8 points.
