The Club continued its nomadic existence with a move to the Olney Oval at Yarra Bend
However, 1978 in B Section proved almost as hard as the previous year in A. At the halfway mark the Firsts were second last with just one win, 6 losses and a draw. The Reserves were 6th with 3-5. At the end of the season the Firsts had not improved their position, finishing second last with 5-10-1. The Reserves were sixth, with 6 wins and 10 losses.
A highlight of the year was defeating eventual premiers Old Melburnians in the last round. OM’s included Rohan Brown who would go on the become deputy headmaster at the school, and a great contributor to and supporter of the Club.
But the football gods had smiled upon Old Trinity when, earlier in the season, Reservoir withdrew from the competition. That left only nine teams in B Grade, meaning that only the bottom team would be relegated. So, we lived to fight another day in B Section.
