1975 was the first year that Old Trinity appeared in A Section of the VAFA.
During the year Bill Peers was again selected to play in the VAFA state team.
Mid-way through the season the Firsts were sixth on the ladder with a creditable four wins and five losses. The Reserves however were second with six wins and three losses.
At the end of the season the Firsts had managed nine wins and nine losses, finishing seventh. The Reserves topped their ladder with thirteen wins and five losses. However, despite winning the second semi final by 14 points over St. Bernards, the Reserves were destined to be beaten by St. Bernard’s by 1 point in a thrilling grand final at Elsternwick Park.

The final and deciding goal was kicked by a St. Bernard’s winger who chased the ball from one side of Elsternwick Park to the other with Rod DeBoos chasing without success and wishing that the far boundary was closer than it was. The St. Bernard’s player collected the ball on the boundary about 40 metres out and did a Buddy Franklin to thread the needle; so near and yet so far.
However, Old Trinity had proved it could match it in A Section.
