Andrew Ramsden was the VAFA A Section joint best & fairest player. He and Andy Cultrera were selected for VAFA state team (Ramsden captain for the 4th year running). Andrew Bourke was selected in the U19 state team.
2005 proved a struggle for all of the teams. At the halfway mark the First were equal last with two wins and seven losses. The Reserves were 8th with 3-6, the U19s 8th (2-7) and the Thirds 10th (0-9). The Firsts only avoided relegation by defeating fourth place Old Xaverians by six points in the last game. They finished 8th, winning 5 and losing 13. The Reserves could only manage 9th (5-13), the U19s 8th (5-13) and the 3rds 10th (1-14).

After six years coaching the Firsts in A Section (having won a B Section premiership in his first year in 1999), Leigh Carlson stood down. Leigh had had a stellar career, playing 120 AFL games with Collingwood and Fitzroy, coaching the Fitzroy U19s for four years and Collegians in the VAFA for eight years (including two A Section premierships, two Runners-up and one semi-final). He was also the AFCA/VAFA coach of the year in 1994, and in 2002 was awarded the VAFA Certificate of Merit, which was awarded to individuals going above and beyond the call of duty year after year.
