With Doug Beer as president, Laurie Chynoweth resumed as coach in 1963 with Clive Batrouney again captain. Having coached in 1956, 57,60, 61 and in 1962 until he became ill, Laurie announced that he intended to step down at the end of 1963.
Old Trinity started brightly, winning five of the first nine games. However, performances tailed off and the team could only manage two more wins for the year. Seven wins and eleven losses put Old Trinity in eighth position out of twelve teams.
The season was disappointing and the team was marred with injuries. Over 10 players sustained injuries and were out for various periods of time including Clive Batrouney who sustained a broken nose. The season saw the emergence of a number of players who would continue to play well into the 60’s and, in some cases, into the 70’s. These included Rowan McClean, Tony Dart, Don Elmer, Paul Kinross, Charlie Fellows, Bob Turner, Peter Kagan, Ian Henderson and Neil Hudson.
